National Level Advocacy
Objective: Advocate at the national level for improved access to quality gender-based violence services for all, especially adolescents and young people.
Through unified consortium advocacy, MICGBV leverages the collective influence of six major organisations to engage Parliament, government ministries, local authorities, and national power holders to drive survivor-centred legal, policy, and budgetary reforms across Malawi.

Access to Quality GBV Services
Advocating for improved access to survivor-centred, high-quality GBV prevention and response services across all districts, specifically prioritizing adolescents and young people.
Advocacy Briefs Dissemination
Producing, publishing, and strategically disseminating evidence-based GBV advocacy briefs to inform parliamentarians, district commissioners, and sector decision-makers.
Power Holder Engagement
Engaging Parliament, government ministries, local councils, traditional leaders, and national power holders to champion policy, institutional, and legal reforms.
Evidence-Based Amplification
Amplifying critical GBV issues and survivor needs in national media and policy dialogues using empirical research and spatial data from the GIS mapping study.
National Budget Advocacy
Advocating for increased government budget allocation towards GBV prevention, response, victim support units, and safe spaces in district development plans.
Survivor-Centred Policies
Promoting and monitoring policies that strengthen gender equality, human rights protection, legal aid access, and comprehensive care for GBV survivors.
Inter-Agency Collaboration
Objective: Strengthen collaboration among GBV practitioners to improve coordination, learning, monitoring, and collective impact.
MICGBV acts as a central coordination anchor across Malawi, uniting humanitarian, development, legal, and academic partners to eliminate duplication, map spatial service provision gaps, and host national learning events.
National GIS Service Mapping
Our flagship spatial mapping tool visualises GBV health facilities, police Victim Support Units, legal aid offices, and safe houses across Malawi's focal districts to optimize referral networks.

Objective: Improve the availability, quality, and use of evidence to strengthen GBV prevention and response across Malawi.
Evidence is the foundation of effective policy and programming. MICGBV generates rigorous empirical research, manages the National GBV Knowledge Hub, and collaborates with universities to train the next generation of practitioners.

A one-stop centralized digital repository providing open access to curated GBV research, laws, policy briefs, university modules, and practitioner toolkits.
